I am having this problem as well - on a 4 month old Macbook with an Apple Airport Extreme Base station. It seems to be something with having a large number of wireless networks around and the connection cuts out every few minutes requiring me to restart the airport card. Come on Apple, you're better than this.

Run a ping test to your router ie: ping 192.168.1.254 and see how sporatic your pings are.
Now, run KisMAC (wireless scanner) with the Airport Extreme card loaded in Passive mode and run the same ping.. Boom, stability! I have seen this in Leopard and Snow Leopard (never used anything before).
The card uses a software controlled MAC (Media Access Control) layer.
I can duplicate this on every Macbook I touch.. This is a driver issue that Apple has not fixed, and it sucks.
